I make a wish in the dark,
Then I sit and wait for that flaming spark.
But I see the frost grow on my windowsill
I know it's getting colder, I feel the chill.

It's been so long I'm losing hope,
And the hours pass as I feel my throat
Whisper your name in the dark.
Fingers crossed that you'll light my spark.

Count the stars, make a wish,
Don't let anybody know.
Hold your breath and jump on in,
It can't hurt just to say hello.
I just want a dream
I just want somebody to chase.
Someone who will help me escape.

Crumpled paper scatters the floor.
Don't have the energy to pick them up, its such a chore.
I watch my fingers start to bleed,
As they scribble down hopeless poetry.
Silly rhymes won't make this right,
Just the words pouring from my pen help me to fight this fight.
I cannot see the light anymore,
As the clouds move in, I sense a downpour.
